Who We Are

Established in 2011 by Russ Morland and subsequently taken over by his apprentice and now 10+ year tattoo artist Julie Dives, The Electric Umbrella tattoo studio is an integral institution in the city of Nanaimo and the Old City Quarter.

We believe that everyone has a place in our little studio. We tattoo all those who believe in our goal of bringing the community together. Well done tattoos with longevity and flow; good, human made art; and integrity are some of our strongest values.

  • Each artist books themselves, which means each artist has a different way of booking. Go to your artist’s profile your contact them directly for more info.

    If you’re not sure which artist you’d like your tattoo from, you can message our Facebook page that all of our artist’s have access to.

  • We absolutely can, although spot availability is subject to which artists are in the shop. We have six artists in one small shop so sometimes fitting a guest artist in here is tough. Please contact Julie for more information.

  • Our artists charge hourly.

    Artists charge $180/hr

    Junior Artists charge $160/hr

    Our shop minimum (below 1 hour) is $120
